Privacy policy

This policy explains what Quittance does with your data. The short version: your file never leaves your browser. We store only what you type into our forms.
Processed in your browser, never sent
When you open a Pub 1220 file, a background worker in your browser reads it, checks it and builds your IRIS files and conversion report. The file and everything in it, including names, TINs, addresses and amounts, stays on your computer. We never receive it.
If you drop a file on the home page, your browser keeps it in its own storage on your computer just long enough to hand it to the converter, then deletes it.
What we store
Only what you give us in a form:
- The waitlist: your email, and if you joined from a preview, the form types in your file and a rough return count (for example, 1,000 to 10,000 returns).
- The contact form: what you type into it, which is your name, email, company, forms, volume and message. We don't keep it on our server. It is emailed to us.
- The free trial: your email, a hash of the code we send you (not the code itself), when the code expires, how many codes you asked for today, how many times a wrong code was entered, and how many exports you've used.
Who helps us
We use two processors:
- Cloudflare hosts the site, runs our server code and stores trial records in Cloudflare KV. Like any host, Cloudflare sees your IP address and basic request details when you visit, and uses them to deliver the site and block abuse.
- Loops sends our email: trial codes, contact form messages to us, and waitlist updates. It keeps waitlist emails and the form and volume tags that come with them. As our transactional email service, it also processes and logs the trial code emails, meaning the recipient email address, and the contact form fields we send through it: name, email, company, forms, volume and message.
No cookies and no analytics
We don't set cookies. We don't use analytics, ad trackers or error-tracking tools. Our pages send a Content Security Policy that lets your browser connect only to our own site.
How long we keep it
- Trial records: until April 30, 2027, plus 90 days. Then we delete them.
- Waitlist and contact details: until you ask us to delete them. Every waitlist email has an unsubscribe link.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email hello@quittance.tax from the address in question. We reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local law, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Quittance is a business tool. It is not meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data from children.
International transfers
Cloudflare and Loops may process data in the United States and other countries. When they do, they use the safeguards the law requires, such as standard contractual clauses.
Changes
We may change this policy. When we do, we update the "Last updated" date on this page.
